The Infrastructure Programme Helsinki implements the world’s best and most sustainable urban development

We are involved in the Infrastructure Programme Helsinki programme, which plans and builds the future urban environment and tramways in the areas of Western, Northeastern, and Northern Helsinki, as well as the city center.

The vision of the project is to achieve the world’s best and most sustainable urban development. New homes will be built along the light rail lines for thousands of Helsinki residents, and in addition to the tramways and streets, high-quality walking and cycling environments will also be created.

The first project to be implemented is the Western Tram, the development phase of which began in 2025. This is an urban development project that involves building and renewing the tram network and urban environment in western Helsinki. With these changes, the light rail line 14 will start operating in the early 2030s, running along Mannerheimintie and continuing through Meilahti, Munkkiniemi, Haaga, and Lassila to Kannelmäki.

The client partners of Infrastructure Programme Helsinki are Metropolitan Area Transport Ltd, the City of Helsinki, and HSY. The service provider partners are Destia, WSP, YIT, NRC, Sitowise, and Sweco.
