Rail maintenance ensures safe and reliable operations in Maintenance Area 4
We are one of Finland’s leading providers of railway track and signalling maintenance, helping to keep both passenger and freight rail services running safely every day of the year. Our maintenance portfolio covers both high-speed main lines and lower-traffic regional railway sections.
In Rail Maintenance Area 4, which extends from Rauma to Pieksämäki, we maintain approximately 420 track kilometres of railway and 330 turnouts. The maintenance area also includes the rail yards at Rauma, Pori, Jyväskylä and Orivesi.

Our responsibilities include the maintenance of track superstructures, turnouts, trackside equipment and installations, substructures and earthworks, railway areas, stations and operational sites, outdoor infrastructure, as well as signalling and train control systems. The contract also covers the maintenance of turnout heating systems throughout the maintenance area. In addition, we provide 24/7 year-round emergency response to faults and operational disruptions.
Supporting the introduction of Finland’s digital railway
A key feature of this five-year contract is its close connection to Digirata, Finland’s national programme to modernise the railway traffic management system. The programme’s first implementation phase, known as the EKA project, covers a 160-track-kilometre section between Pori and the Rauma–Lielahti line.
As the maintenance contractor, we play an active role in coordinating construction activities with ongoing railway operations and supporting the commissioning of the new systems. We are also responsible for developing maintenance methods for the future digital railway infrastructure.
