Noise assessments to support urban planning

We carried out a traffic noise assessment for the Honkaniementie detailed plan area of the municipality of Lempäälä. Lempäälä is planning to generate new plots for detached houses and local public services in the Honkaniementie area.

The average traffic noise levels were modelled using the CadnaA noise prediction software. Both the current situation and the predicted situation in 2040 were modelled. The objective of noise modelling is to ensure healthy and comfortable living environment.

Traffic noise pollution is a common environmental nuisance in urban living areas. Assessing traffic noise impacts and designing preventative measures against noise is an important phase of preparing urban plans. The spread of noise pollution can be restricted for example by placement of buildings, building noise barriers or having better sound insulation of building facades.
